You're always doing hypnosis.
You are always doing hypnosis.
You are always in hypnosis.
And everything, from how and what you say to yourself in front of the mirror, to how you relate to people in your life, to what you think of your job, to how you relate to money, is usefully considered as hypnosis. It's usefully considered as something you have a significant part in creating for yourself.
Hypnosis is a special way of saying, "i have dominion over my own internal world. I am fully responsible for my experience. "
You are always in one trance state or another.
The state you are in when you are having sex (the chemistry, feelings, filter set, attitude, etc.) is different than the trance you're in when you're eating, and different again from when you are sleeping.
The problem for most people is that they don't have any idea how to navigate into or between states. Most people don't even know that they're doing hypnosis. They are at the mercy of the winds of change. They have no way of thinking about how to operate their own internal experience of the world and so they are more or less *run* from the outside in. In other words, how they feel inside is largely a matter of what is happening to them on the outside. Cloudy day, crappy mood. Sunny day, good mood. Getting what you want in life, enjoying yourself. Umet expectations, upset and sorrow.
This seems backwards to me.
I would much rather come to understand myself and who i am in the world and live from within this space 24/7. So that no matter what's going on i am always moving from great integrity with responsibility for my actions and inspiration in my relationships. This is what its like to rin the world from the inside out.
The thing to remember is, you are constantly in trance - whether you recognize it or not.
You are in trance and you effect the trance of everyone you come in contact with.
Anything and everything you say to yourself (and other people) is a suggestion.
Everything!
Everything you say to yourself is hypnotic and puts your attention on one thing at the expense of another.
Try these on:
The thought and the experience, “I am beautiful” cannot occur simultaneously with the thought and experience “I am ugly.”
“I am not hypnotizable,” is a hypnotic statement. It is one many people give themselves.
“Am I hypnotizable?” is another trance state; lots of people give this one to themselves as well.
“I am a hypnotist” is another reality or filter set that people use. The people that use this one have access to skills that help them design and more deeply enjoy their internal experience not to mention their experience of the extant world.
You are constantly programming yourself; You may as well grab the controls and fly this ship in the direction you most want to go.
NeuroLogic EXERCISE OF THE WEEK
For the next day pay attention to what kinds of things you are talking* about on the inside. Notice what type of trances you are creating for yourself. Are they enjoyable? Sad? Happy? Satisfied? Angry?
Are you responsible or do you live in a blame frame?
What tones do you use to speak to yourself with?
How do you speak differently inside when you are feeling absolutely amazing that’s different then when you’re only feeling so-so?
How would somebody else experience your internal states and the way you talk to yourself?
Would they like it?
Would they laugh?
Would they be surprised?
Seduced?
In awe?
In an ideal world, what would your internal dialogue be like?
The goal for this week is to begin having the most enviable internal dialogue in the world. So good that anyone else who got a chance to experience it would instantly want to adopt it for themselves.
*Hypnosis works not only in the auditory rep system but in all of the rep systems (olfactory, kinesthetic, gustatory, auditory, visual) simultaneously. We will explore the other systems in future posts.
